In continuation of the “Kaohsiung Metropolitan MRT Siaogang-Linyuan Line-RLM01 E&M system (including BSS) Turnkey Project” awarded at the end of the previous year (2022), the bidding contract has been awarded. The Mass Rapid Transit Bureau successfully selected the winning vendor in the “Independent Verification and Validation Service for Kaohsiung MRT Metropolitan Line (Siaogang-Linyuan Line) Project” case on June 29, in accordance with the Government Procurement Act and with the assistance of members of the selection committee, scholars, and professionals. The successful bidder (vendor) will be responsible for the verification and validation of the overall system performance, ensuring that the software and hardware designed and constructed by the engineering turnkey contractors of the Siaogang Linyuan line are highly reliable, accessible, maintainable, and safe (RAMS) during operation and provide the public with a comfortable, safe, and convenient journey.

To expand the service scope of the Kaohsiung Metro Network and meet the growing demand for high-quality services among the city’s residents, the Siaogang Linyuan Line will extend to the MRT Red Line and Gangshan Lujhu Extension Line, Orange Line, Yellow Line, and Light Rail, among others. In addition to laying a solid foundation for the flourishing development of Kaohsiung’s technology corridor, a metropolitan public transportation system which is seamless, green, and environmentally friendly – the new traffic norm – can be established.

The “Rules of MRT Final Inspection & Testing for Revenue Service” stipulate that before the initial inspection and testing, a independent verification and validation report of the overall system must be provided to demonstrate that the section opening to traffic for operation does not pose an operational safety risk. The verification and validation operations have been conducted in accordance with the European/International Railway Transportation System EN50126/IEC62278, EN50128/IEC62279 and EN50129/IEC62425 Standards. To fulfill specific construction project requirements by meeting the desirable requirements and dropping unfavorable ones, some of the 12 constituents during the V-shaped lifecycle stages such as system file launch, software and hardware realization, etc., qualitative and quantitative evidence that permeates the links has been gathered and evaluated. Prior to opening to public traffic and operation, a comprehensive and detailed safety evaluation report has been compiled. Through a traceable system type benchmark record, greater concern towards the public’s confidence in achieving co-operation performance throughout the anticipated service life has been demonstrated.
