(I) Design of the entrances:

A multilayer of cases in combination with display window assemblies of steel components shape the special properties of the R8 Station in the important shopping district in Kaohsiung City. The design mitigates the impact on the surroundings. The ventilation shutters made of aluminum alloy ensure the exchange of the air flowing in and out of the station.

(II) Air shaft:

As for the X air shaft of the station, the relief vent shaft and the exhaust vent shaft are set up on the first and second floors of Kaohsiung Asia Plaza, respectively, as they are constructed to form an integrated structure with the Plaza. The intake vent shaft is set up in the square in the front of the Plaza. Except for the exhaust vent shaft that must be 4.3m in height, all the vent shafts are shorter in design to mitigate the feeling of oppression.

(III) Core trading image:

The first basement is the concourse with an oval-shaped elevated space and elevators in the center to form an image of “the eyes of the MRT.”

(IV) The hot weather in the Kaohsiung area and the features of simplification, speed, modernization, technology and industrialization as one of the most important industrial zones in Taiwan are demonstrated with the lap splicing of lightweight members and the use of industrialized materials.
