The most favored tender for the turnkey project of the electromechanical system of the Kaohsiung Mass Rapid Transit Yellow Line was determined today (August 17). The Screening Committee acted in favor of the bid presented by the joint bidding team of “Siemens Mobility GmbH Taiwan Branch (Germany),” “Singapore Technologies Engineering Ltd. Taiwan Branch” and “Stadler Rail AG” as the most favored tender.

The yellow line construction plan of the mass rapid transit system of Metropolitan Kaohsiung is 22.91 km long passing through the central administrative districts of Niaosong, Sanmin, Lingya, Sinsing, Fongshan and Cianjhen of Kaohsiung City en route to 23 stations and ends at 1 depot. This line connects with the Red Line and Orange Line , the light rail and Taiwan Railway System. The turnkey project of the YM01 tender on the electromechanical system and the depot, and the principal transforming station covers the train, signals, power supply, communication, automatic billing system, platform gate and maintenance equipment and related sub-systems of the line. The civil works of the depot and the transforming station has been opened for tender twice online in accordance with the Government Procurement Act and the deadline of bidding was August 4, 2022. Qualification review was completed on August 5 after tender opening. The screen process was completed today successfully, which will be followed by the determination of the award and signing of the contract.

The advocacy of the construction of the yellow line of Kaohsiung MRT is the unchanged policy objective of Kaohsiung City Government. The work of the YM01 Bid was successfully completed and will soon be unveiled. In the future, the yellow line will connect the red and orange line of Kaohsiung MRT and the light rail, which largely extended the service territory of the mass rapid transit network of Metropolitan Kaohsiung. People in Kaohsiung could then enjoy the service of the mass rapid transit system with a higher quality. A public transportation oriented- “brand new” look of the seamless transit is upcoming.
