The trial operation of the Kaohsiung Circular Light Rail started on January 1, 2024. From February 26, 2024 a fare will be charged on a mileage basis. Passengers must swipe cards both in and out of the station when taking the Light Rail. There is no difference between inbound and outbound direction when passengers swipe their cards at the platform ticket barriers, so please ensure you swipe your cards correctly to avoid your cards from being blocked.

To encourage going paperless to protect the environment, passengers using e-tickets or QR codes are eligible for a 15% discount off the e-fare. If you don’t have an e-ticket, you may purchase a ticket from a ticket machine at the station. Select your destination station on the screen, then the machine will calculate the fare for you. You will be charged the full amount according to the approved fare zone, starting at NT$20 for the first 5 km, plus NT$5 for each subsequent 2 km, up to a maximum NT$35 for one ride.

All convenient services provided by the Kaohsiung Light Rail are still available. For those who hold a Bao Ai Card (for the handicapped) or a Senior Citizen Card, swipe the card when entering or exiting the station to enjoy a free ride on the Kaohsiung Light Rail; please feel free to take advantage of this service.

The MRT Bureau reminds all passengers to swipe the cards when entering and exiting the stations. Failure to swipe the card completely will result in the card being blocked. In addition, after swiping your card to enter the fare zone, you will be charged an additional NT$20 if you stay in the zone for more than 2 hours. If you do not swipe your card to exit the station on the same day, you will be charged the highest fare from the previous ride and the overtime fare for a total of NT$55 (35+20).
