The Kaohsiung Metro continues to make progress toward its goal to launch RK1 trial operations by the end of June this year. Today (6th), the trial operation test for RK1 Gangshan Station was launched to check the safety and reliability of the overall system in accordance with the requirements of the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) system inspection.

The RK1 Gangshan Station is in the northern extension of the Kaohsiung MRT Red Line, the trial operation test shall follow the initial operating schedule reported to the central government and the operating mode is to run between the R3 Siaogang Station and RK1 Gangshan Station.

During the trial run, the Kaohsiung Metro northbound train from R3 Station will carry passengers to R24 Gangshan South Station and after clearing the trains at R24 Station, it will continue to drive northward into the trial run section to RK1 Station; southbound trains will depart from RK1 Station without carrying passengers to R24 Station and from R24 Station onward, passengers are allowed to ride on the trains and continue to R3 Station, thereby not affecting the operations of the existing Kaohsiung Metro routes. Passengers are advised to follow the instructions given by the staff to get on and off the train at the R24 Station.

The Kaohsiung Metro engineering team has been working very hard to complete the integration of the E&M system through a series of tests on the system integration. The next stage of the trial operation testing will be started today to validate that the system meets the MRT inspection requirements. By conducting the preliminary inspection, Kaohsiung Metro is taking another big step towards the goal of opening the station by the end of June. Kaohsiung MRT RK1 Gangshan Station is now in the final stages of opening and the preliminary survey is expected to be done in May.
