It has been the plan of the Kaohsiung City Government to increase monetary sources and reduce financial burdens. Today (27), hosted by Deputy Mayor Charles Lin, the unveiling ceremony of “The Kaohsiung Mass Rapid Transit Joint Development Project Office” (KJDO) was held at the 10th floor of the Sihwei Administration Center. Heads of various departments of the city government, consultation teams from different districts and the representatives of Advancetek Enterprise Co. Ltd., the investor of the Orange Line (O4), attended the ceremony together.

Mass Rapid Transit Bureau, Kaohsiung City established the new “Kaohsiung Mass Rapid Transit Joint Development Office” (KJDO), with Deputy Director-General Wu Chia-Chang, appointed by Deputy Mayor Charles Lin as the director of the project office. To facilitate the promotion of mass rapid transit, special personnel have been assigned to handle the targeted projects. Operating its own website, the officers are responsible for corresponding with landlords of private lands and investors. The website of the project office is constructed under the official website of the Mass Rapid Transit Bureau, which provides information on the related regulations regarding the joint development projects, joint development Q&A and more for people’s reference. In addition, a hotline is operated ((07)331-4548) to communicate with residents and investors directly through video conferences, interviews, visits, etc.

The joint development project on the development of KRTC is the policy tool that complies with the TOD urban development trends. Its concerns include the revenue of the city, the demand of local development, the demand and supply of real estate properties, and the public welfare of regional development. Simply put, the idea is to “construct jointly and share profits dually.” Providing a triple-win situation for investors, landlords and authorities. Buildings will be developed according to the cost ratio contributed by different parties. When promoting the joint development project of the KRTC, in addition to allowing investors to earn from their investments, it is hoped that the government can reap stable income from the creation of the synergy of the urban TOD.

Deputy Mayor Charles Lin expressed that the Mass Rapid Transit Bureau has already located lands with potential for development in Kaohsiung City. In addition to the O4 station, the premium land neighboring the O10 Weiwuying Station, RK1 Gangshan Base, O13 Dadong Station and O9 Martial Arts Stadium Station will be released shortly. Moreover, trade opportunities promotion will be conducted in the land neighboring the yellow line, Gangshan-Lujhu, Xiaogang-Linyuan, other road networks, the Orange Line in operation now and light rail for further development. This will promote the economic development in the neighborhood of KRTC and the entire Kaohsiung as well. In the future, the development of Kaohsiung will be infinite.
