The Totoro Tunnel, built along the most beautiful section of the Kaohsiung Light Rail, has become one of the most exciting scenic spots for netizens after launching into operation.

Recently, C21 Kaohsiung Museum of Fine Arts Station of Kaohsiung Light Rail has become a popular photo spot among influencers. To take magnificent photos, the editor would like to share 3 tips for a better photo shoot with you.

  1. The best place for photo taking: Now, you are suggested to take photo on the pedestrian crossing or places facing the tunnel in the station. If you plan to take a photo on the pedestrian crossing, please do not stay there for long. Especially when the guard lamps are on, please leave immediately, for your own safety and to allow the train to pass through.
  2. Vertical composition: To capture the feel of the Totoro Tunnel, a good photo should contain green leaves on the top and green grass at the bottom. Therefore, vertical composition will be an ideal option. This can highlight the green leaves and green grass, and eliminate the unwanted scenes in the photo.
  3. Use long-focus lens skillfully: If you plan to capture the feel of the Totoro Tunnel, you are suggested to take photos at the end of the Museum of Fine Arts Station, near the stop sign of the "Mikan" Train. Use the long-focus lens of an SLR camera to compress the scenes in front and behind of the woods. This will highlight the profound beauty of the tunnel. If you are taking photos with smartphones, the same theory still applies.

Little reminder: Don’t cross the rails casually at any point just to take photos. You won’t get a good shot and you will also endanger yourself. More importantly, you will be fined in accordance with The Mass Rapid Transit Act.

Take good photos safely with the proper method, at the proper locations!

Remarks:

  1. The Fine Arts Museum section of the Kaohsiung Light Rail belongs to the B Type Right-of-Way. Crossing the rails is not allowed.
  2. There are five pedestrian crossings along the Museum of Fine Arts section. People can cross the rails and take photos at these locations.
  3. There are traffic light barriers on the pedestrian crossings. When the lights are on, it means that trains are passing through. Please leave the rails and step back from the traffic light barrier zones.
