KMRT Moves Forward! Building the New Traffic Backbone of the North Kaohsiung Science and Technology Corridor—Tender Announcement Starts for the Mechanical and Electrical System Turnkey Project RKM01 of Gangshan-Lujhu Extension Line Construction

Gangshan-Lujhu Extension Line of KMRT starts at the north side of Gangshan South Station (R24), connects the north side of the station, and extends northward, passing through Gangshan Station of Taiwan Railways, National Gangshan Agricultural & Industrial Vocational Senior High School, Benjhou Industrial Park, Southern Taiwan Science Park, Kao Yuan University, and downtown Lujhu. It finally ends near the Dahu Station of Taiwan Railways in Hunei Dist. Its total length is about 13.08 km.

The KMRT-RKM01 Mechanical and Electrical System Turnkey Project RKM01 of Gangshan-Lujhu Extension Line Construction includes electric trains, power supply system, sign system, communication system, automatic fare collection system (AFC), central monitoring and supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA), and platform automatic door system for RK1-RK6 six stations and routes (another RK7-RK8 two stations and routes for subsequent expansion). In order to understand the opinions of the market products and potential manufacturers, the public review of the bidding documents was completed on 19 April 2021. The collected opinions were also handled publicly in accordance with the relevant laws. Then, a manufacturer’s briefing was held on 9 August 2021 to explain the contents of the project and the manufacturer’s opinions. After completing the administrative procedures of this tender case (RKM01), the tender was announced on the Internet on August 16, 2021.

The KMRT Gangshan-Lujhu Extension Project is one of the Executive Yuan’s forward-looking massive infrastructure programs. Also, it is one of the policies that mayor Chen Chi-Mai is very concerned about and continuously promotes. Under the policy of the southern semiconductor S corridor by the central government, Kaohsiung City Government sincerely welcomes the industry to invest in Kaohsiung City and to actively participate in the program. It is expected that the tender for the KMRT-RKM01 Electrical System Turnkey Project will be successfully completed. The private sector and the Kaohsiung City Government will create a win-win situation and work together to build a new traffic backbone of the North Kaohsiung Science and Technology Corridor.
