The Kaohsiung Metropolitan Mass Rapid Transit System Gangshan–Lujhu Extension Line spans approximately 13.08 kilometers, featuring eight stations and one energy dispatch center (BSS7). Upon completion, the extension will connect with the existing MRT Red Line, enhancing transit convenience between Gangshan, Lujhu, and the Southern Taiwan Science Park, while further improving the overall efficiency of public transportation across the Greater Kaohsiung area. Currently, civil engineering, construction and electro-mechanical system works for the extension line are proceeding as planned. With the transportation and installation of large-scale equipment at the Energy Dispatch Center now underway, the project has reached another key milestone in its overall progress.

To ensure safe and smooth equipment transportation, the MRT project team conducted comprehensive planning in advance, covering transportation routes, traffic control, protection of existing facilities, and safety measures. All transport operations have been duly approved by the relevant supervisory authorities, including port, transportation, highway, and public works agencies, after rigorous review and confirmation. The Mass Rapid Transit Bureau also convened coordination meetings with utility and pipeline-related units to ensure seamless execution. During transportation, operations are guided by traffic police and volunteer officers, with temporary traffic control implemented as necessary to maintain road safety and order. Furthermore, the transportation of electro-mechanical system equipment is subject to strengthened inspections and protective measures along the route, jointly monitored and verified by engineering teams to ensure safe execution throughout. The positioning of large and critical equipment at the Energy Dispatch Center (BSS7) is expected to be completed by January 2026.

Upon completion, the BSS7 Energy Dispatch Center will supply power to the stations and track sections (RK1–RK8) of the Gangshan–Lujhu Extension Line. It will also provide reciprocal backup support with the BSS5 Energy Dispatch Center of the northern Red Line section, ensuring sufficient power supply capacity for the entire extension. The establishment of the BSS7 Energy Dispatch Center will further strengthen the MRT system’s power stability and redundancy, guaranteeing uninterrupted electricity during operations and enhancing overall system safety. This marks not only an important milestone for the Gangshan–Lujhu Extension Line project but also a testament to the steady and robust progress of Kaohsiung’s MRT development.
