The “2021 Smart City Summit & Expo” was exhibited from March 23 to March 26. Kaohsiung adopts the theme of “Technological Asia Bay Area, Smart Kaohsiung”. 11 government agencies co-exhibited, and the MRT Bureau’s “Kaohsiung Human-Centered Smart Rapid Transit Network” successfully attracts numerous manufacturers to visit and inquiry about the related information during the four-day exhibition.

The exhibits of the MRT Bureau is divided into the following four categories:

• Increase the construction of the rail network of the mass transit system in Kaohsiung metropolitan area: they are (1) All direction “The Red-Orange Cross Line” (2) Kaohsiung Urban Core—Circular Light Rail-nine optimization adjustment plans (3) Herringbone route—linking the New Bay Area of Asia, Chengcing Lake and the introduction of Metropolitan Core Area of the MRT Metropolitan Line (Yellow Line) (4) the introduction of Gangshan-Luzhu Extension Line and Siaogang-Linyuan Line.
• Introduce the Kaohsiung Light Rail, which runs in the only metropolitan area of Taiwan: they are catenary-free system, 100% low-floor light rail vehicle, vibration and noise reduction track system, and green environment.
• Conduct transit-oriented development (TOD) in a joint development approach: they are the land development projects of O4 and O13 station on Orange Line and RK1 station on Ganshan-Luzhu Extension Line.
• Import 5G, AIOT, and other intelligent technology for improving light rail transport safety: (1) AI image recognition applied to light rail track inspection/vehicle maintenance (2) Light rail passenger flow calculation (3) Track flooding warning system (4) Track clearance auxiliary system.
