Wu Jia-Chang, Director-General of the Kaohsiung Mass Rapid Transit Bureau, led a team from the Bureau and CECI Engineering Consultants, Inc. to inspect the MRT Siaogang-Linyuan Line. During the visit, Wu encouraged the MRT engineering team to push forward with full dedication as they prepare for the upcoming construction phase. In addition, a joint Zhongyuan Festival ceremony was held with the general contractor to pray for the safety and success of the future MRT construction.
Director-General Wu noted that the mechanical and electrical systems and track tenders for the entire Siaogang-Linyuan Line have been awarded. The civil engineering work for the first phase of the RLC01 turnkey project and the second phase of the RLD01 detailed design have also been completed. Currently, detailed design operations are underway, with construction activities expected to commence before the year's end. He emphasized the importance of professionalism and diligence among the construction team to ensure the project meets its deadlines and quality standards, ultimately enhancing the development of southern Kaohsiung.
Wu further explained that the MRT Siaogang-Linyuan Line is currently undergoing detailed design and review of various project plans. The project management unit CECI Engineering Consultants and the general contractor RSEA Engineering Corporation have been coordinating efforts by deploying a significant number of engineering personnel. Their work includes pipeline coordination, route and traffic maintenance planning, and land coordination for the segment of Yanhai Road Section 3 that overlaps with National Freeway 7. Additionally, pre-construction coordination efforts are actively progressing.
The MRT Siaogang-Linyuan Line spans approximately 11.59 kilometers and includes six underground stations and one elevated station. The route passes through Siaogang and Linyuan Districts, connecting key industrial zones such as the Linhai Industrial Park, the New Material Circular Industrial Park, and High-Value Industrial Park. This line is also a vital part of the “S Corridor” of the southern semiconductor materials. In the future, the MRT Siaogang-Linyuan Line will operate seamlessly with the MRT Red Line and the Gangshan-Lujhu Extension, allowing passengers to travel between Lujhu and Linyuan without the need to transfer. This integration will also provide local residents with a safe, comfortable, and convenient green transportation option.
