Welcome President to RK1 Gangshan Station Trial Operation Launching Ceremony
「President and Major of Kaohsiung launched the trail operation of Kaohsiung MRT RK1 Gangshan Station」
At the ceremony, Mayor Chi-Mai Chen announced that free rides will be offered at the Gangshan Station (RK1) starting from 12:00 noon on June 30th for trial operation. All citizens are welcome to take advantage of the free rides.
Located in Kaohsiung's critical technology "S Corridor", the Gangshan Lujhu Extension Line connects four major technology parks, including Nanzih Technology Industrial Park, Ciaotou Science Park, Gangshan Benjhou Industrial Park, and Kaohsiung Science Park. It provides services to both the industry and the community, and aims to create a 30-minute good quality transportation system for the greater Kaohsiung area.
MRT RK1 Station connects with the Gangshan Station of the Taiwan Railways, where residents of greater Gangshan will be able to transfer to the train. This will make transportation more convenient for the elderly who need to go to the hospital, students going to and from school, commuters, and foreign tourists.
In order to implement the Transit-oriented development (TOD), the east and west sides of the RK1 vicinity are planned to be jointly developed. In the future, a cross-station bridge will be used to connect the front and rear parts of the Taiwan Railway Gangshan Station to the MRT Station to create a new landmark in Gangshan area, and to establish a true TOD around the Gangshan Station.
In order to allow the citizens to learn more about the route of the MRT Gangshan Station and to encourage them to take the MRT, the city government has launched the "Free Ride from R24 to RK1" promotion. The special offers and benefits are as follows:
